BSF Punjab Frontier headquartered at Jalandhar gets first woman IG

The Border Security Force Punjab Frontier headquartered at Jalandhar got the first woman Inspector General on Monday as Sonali Mishra assumed the charge. An IPS of the 1993 batch from Madhya Pradesh cadre she holds a vast experience of having served in the state police in various capacities. She has also commanded the militancy infested Kashmir Frontier in the BSF. Among her various other appointments, she had served as IG Operations Special DG BSF Chandigarh IG Frontier Headquarters BSF New Delhi. She has served in the CBI in Delhi and Mumbai as an SP and DIG. She is also a recipient of the President’s Police Medal. TNS

A district-level function will be held at ITI Ground Nawanshahr on the occasion of Independence Day. Deputy Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal said rehearsals would be held on August 10 11 and 12 and full-dress rehearsal would be held on August 13. She said apart from the parade and march past tableaus showing achievements by various departments would be the highlight of the event.
